Start Project 'Parsifal'
Yesterday, 20th of January 2021, Concordia Damen commenced construction of the first of 40 inland barges that it is building for J.P. Morgan Asset Management.
The LNG-powered barges will be chartered by Shell and operated by the Verenigde Tankrederij BV/ Marlow Navigation on the Dutch, Belgian and German canal and river network. The vessel hulls are being constructed at the Kladovo shipyard in Serbia.
Following speeches by Mr. Chris Kornet, CEO of Concordia Damen and Kladovo yard director Mr. Lepovic, the cutting machine was started by Concordia Damen’s technical manager Mr. Bert Duijzer. After this, attendees – some of whom participated in the event digitally – raised a toast to mark the occasion.
